The victim recounted that the primate had inflicted severe injuries, including almost completely tearing off her ear.

A neighbor’s pet monkey in Oklahoma attacked a woman, who is now in the process of recovery. According to reports from local stations KTEN and FOX affiliate KOKH-TV, the attack occurred on Sunday evening in the Oakview and Grandview area, as the victim, Brittany Parker, was outside her residence.

The monkey reportedly grabbed her hair and tore almost her entire ear off. The Dickson Police Department released a statement saying that a family member of Parker killed the primate while officers were searching for it after it had run away following the attack.

Despite the efforts of the monkey’s owners to capture it, they were unsuccessful. Parker shared that the experience was very frightening. In a separate incident, an Ohio police officer killed a zebra that bit its owner, causing severe injuries.

According to a report, Parker shared that she was initially sitting indoors when she spotted the monkey outside her window attempting to get inside her house. After realizing this, she called the police, and while she tried to hold her door shut, the monkey jumped on the back of the responding officers’ truck and eventually attacked her, the authorities said.

Following the attack, the monkey ran away, and Parker contacted a loved one who later arrived at the scene and killed the animal. Parker recounted that when the relative arrived, the monkey hit him in the face and pulled his hair.

The DPD mentioned that Parker was initially taken to Mercy Hospital in Ardmore and then transferred to OU Medical in Oklahoma City for medical attention. As per the report by KTEN, she received stitches and was released from the hospital on Monday. However, Parker shared with KOKH-TV that she requires plastic surgery due to the injuries she sustained during the attack.

According to KTEN, it is legal to keep monkeys as pets in Oklahoma, as they are classified as domesticated animals. However, the severity of Parker’s injuries prompted the police chief to inform CBS affiliate KXII that the case report would be sent to the district attorney’s office. The district attorney’s office will then decide how to proceed with the case.
